Kanchenjunga is one of the most remote mountains situated at the border of Nepal and India. We climbed it from the Nepal side, though the summit itself lies directly on the international boundary between Nepal and Sikkim, India. It’s not allowed to climb Kanchenchunga from Sikkim due to religious reasons. For 3.5 weeks, we had no communication with the outside world, just a painfully slow Garmin connection. This was my attempt at peak number 12 of the 14 highest mountains in the world. We started our trek from Kathmandu on May 3rd and reached base camp on May 12th. We did one rotation from May 16th to 18th, going higher than Camp 2 before returning to base. The summit push began on May 20th at 3 PM from base camp to Camp 2. On May 21st, we reached Camp 3. After a short three-hour rest at Camp 4 on May 22nd, we left for the final push at 6:30 PM and stood on the summit at 6:10 AM NST on May 23rd. I made it back to base camp at 11:30 PM the same day. It was brutally cold and physically demanding, but the weather held. We made it through because of an incredible team: Sasko, Ganka, @hakonasvang , @vertical.dream, Wong, and @sirbazkhan_mission14. Huge thanks to @imaginenepal amazing Sherpas @prem_mamba and Pasang Dai, who were with our team the whole time and @kilu.sherpa.5 , @dawa_sherpa8848 , and @ngima.sherpa.5439087, who joined us for the summit push. Also thankful for the porters and the rope-fixing team who made the route possible. One of the sherpas got sick during summit push and Sirbaz ended up supporting the team a day after his earlier summit without O2. We also met some amazing people from other expeditions along the way. This one will stay with me for a long time. This is the first expedition where I managed to read a couple of books and absolutely loved both. Big thanks to @khalidsprofile for looking after our peaches that must be as difficult as climbing a mountain.
