Welcome to Everest base camp! It has taken 8 days to approach the base camp, moving up from Lukla 2860m to EBC 5360m, staying in various mountain guest houses and hiking 5-8 hours each day with 2 rest days to acclimatise. First Breithorn of the year! The sky was blue, the sun was shining but it was cooooold!! With the strong wind, the chill factor was -16C according to the forecast. Bishorn 4151 m is a great 4000m peak in the Alps perfect for beginners. It is considered as ‘easy’ glacier climb with no technical difficulty graded F (facile). Gran Paradiso is a great beginner 4000er in the Alps! At 4061m it’s the highest mountain in Italy located entirely in Italy The ‘normal route’ can be climbed from Vittorio Emanuele II hut or from Chabod hut (slightly longer), both routes are graded PD- and actually meet on the upper part. When a dream comes true.. On 24th September at 8:12 local time I reached the summit of Manaslu, at 8163m the 8th highest mountain in the world. Lagginhorn 4010m is a great beginner 4000er in the Alps and offers several scrambling routes. You guys often ask me what is my favourite mountain in the Alps… I don’t have one but I d say one of the best mountaineering experiences I had was on Parrotspirze!
